"Every year in the United States, there are about 3,500 Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID). These deaths occur among infants less than 1-year-old and have no immediately obvious case." Source
The month of October is SIDS Awareness and we want to help support those who have been affected but also be a place to help spread awareness for the prevention of SIDS.
+ Safe Sleep is a great resource to further explore SIDS -- it is full of expert advice and real-mom stories that can help you better understand what SIDS is and how it might be prevented.
We also want to acknowledge the many moms who have come forward with their own personal story, a vulnerable and courageous act to hopefully help others. We encourage you to check out the sites below or maybe forward them to a friend who could use the encouragement!
+ Empty Arms Foundation // A non-profit organizaton dedicated to the advancement of SIDS research.
+ SIDS Resources // The mission of SIDS Resources, Inc. is to promote safe practices which reduce the risk of infant death and to provide bereavement support for families who have lost babies.
TIP: When using a bassinet, crib or moses basket you also want to be sure to keep the space clear of think blankets or objects the baby could potentially come in contact with. A simple swaddle is all they really need in the first few months and we encourage mom's who use our baskets to be as minimal as they can!
If you would like further information, have more questions, or just want to talk please feel free to reach out to us, we would love to hear your story!!
