How to create a modern + minimalist nursery

Can we just gush over how adorable this nursery is?? Hailey, a member of our Plum+Sparrow family, recently had her first baby and curated this perfect modern + minimalist room for her sweet baby girl. Read her blog post to learn all her tips and ideas to create this space!

So I’m not saying that everything I bought for my nursery was designed around my favorite Plum + Sparrow Moses basket, but I’m also not saying it wasn’t 😉 When choosing a design for a room, I always choose one item that I love and then design a theme around that item. I wanted the room to be feminine and modern, while also being playful.

I chose the No-Hood Cognac & Cream Moses Basket, paired with the white rocking bassinet stand, and the nest pad lounger! It was so hard to decide on which basket I wanted for my baby girl, but I kept coming back to the modern and timeless look of the no-hood, and the contrast of the cognac and cream handle.

Your crib is like the fireplace of your nursery, it’s a focal point and I was very picky about this particular piece of furniture. I saw this crib from million dollar baby and I fell in love! I love how the crib and bassinet stand compliment each other!

I knew I wanted a little reading corner that I could feed my baby, and read her books when she got older. I accessorized the chair with my favorite Plum + Sparrow swaddle and a few of our animal friends. Shelves are from ikea, and such a functional (and cute) way to organize books.

No nursery would be complete without a changing station, and this one is decked out with Plum + Sparrow items. Our market baskets used for diaper and burp cloth organization make it so easy for nighttime changes. I also chose the  matching  Changing basket with cream & cognac handles.

To bring in the playful feature, I added this Rylee and Cru print. Our friends at Rylee and Cru have the cutest kids clothes, but did you know they also sell prints?? We love this adventure one

Remember when designing your nursery to enjoy the process! Choose things you love, and that are functional.

xoxo mamas!
